The U.S. Capitol Police is investigating a bag that was found inside the agency’s headquarters that contains cocaine residue, officials announced on Wednesday.

The 1-inch-by-1-inch Ziploc bag was found on the hallway floor in an area that has been used as a staging area for furniture and supplies, according to Capitol Police. The area is “heavily trafficked” by contractors and other employees, housing departments such as prisoner processing, crime scene, intelligence, and reports processing.

The bag was found just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday and was “immediately reported” to a Capitol Police supervisor. The bag was then tested and returned positive for cocaine.

It’s unclear whether Capitol Police officials have identified a suspect, but the agency said it would conduct further testing of the residue and DNA tests on the bag. The agency will provide more information “when it becomes available,” officials said.
